Question | Hi, im currently using Maxi muscle promax for my training. I am doing a workout involving big exercises each session such as deadlifts, bench press, squats. I am wondering what would be better to use to gain lean muscle Critical mass or promax |
Answer | Hi Jake, promax would be the better product for lean muscular gains, as critical mass has a huge calorie count and is designed to get people as big as possible in the fastest time. Promax is designed to repair and strengthen you but not gain any bodyfat giving you a lean atheletic appearance. |

Question | Ive just got a bag of critical mass and am currently training on the 5x5 routine which seems to be going well, will it be counter productive to be doing cardio while taking it Also to make it last a bit longer I ve been having 2 scoops with 50g of grounded oats twice a day.. Is this ok |
Answer | Hi Seano
If the ambition is to gain lean muscle mass then remember you must over-eat, i.e. consume more calories then your body requires to put on the mass. 5x5 training is excellent at building mass as well as strength so your training should generate the need for larger stronger muscles. Doing cardio is still advisable due to the health benefits C.V. brings, however be aware that this will create a great need for calories meaning you will have to eat more. |

Question | is this better to mix with water or milk and/or anyting else added to it Thanks |
Answer | Hi Daryl, water would be best to mix with this as it is a very thick shake anyway and milk would make it even thicker and harder to digest, as milk is casein so it would slow the digestion process down. |

Question | I play a lot of hockey so it is important for me to keep lean, but I am pretty underweight for someone of my height. I m currently 6 foot 2 and weigh around 11 stone and I m looking to get to 12. I ve been taking Promax Extreme and seen some good results, but I ve only been taking it on training days. Is it worth taking critical mass on my non training days/ before a work out as it gets pretty expensive taking promax extreme that much! I used to take critical mass last year and saw some good results as I have a really fast metabolism. Just wondering if it is worth using the two in tandem Thanks |
Answer | Hi Tom, it would be a waste to take the 2 together as critical mass contains everything you need to build with. If you found critical mass worked for you then i would recommend using this product again. Using a creatine such as reflex's creapure would also help you to gain size quickly and would help you strength wise aswell. |

Question | I train in MMA and am currently trying to lose about 4kg although I m not too concerned about doing it quickly. What I m mostly after is having as much energy as possible to fuel my training and to not have to prepare too much food pre-workout (as I m usually busy) - so I was planning on using Critical Mass for my pre-workout food. Is it the right thing pre-workout How fast acting are the carbohydrates |
Answer | Hi George
If you are trying to lose weight a 900kcal weight gain shake would be counter-productive, instead utilise something such as instant mass or kinetica oat gain, something with low GI carbs that will take a while to digest and fuel your training for hours. Critical mass utilises several different forms of carbohydrates however the quanity of them and overall nutritional content of such a high calorie weight gain shake may divert bloodflow to the stomach to aid nutrient transport and breakdown when in reality you want blood going to exercising muscle to supply them with oxygen. Try to consume around 40-50g of both protein and carbs both pre and post training and give your body at least an hour to start digesting the nutrients prior training |

Question | should i take critical mass before i go to bed |
Answer | Hi Shahied, I wouldn't advise taking before you go to bed as it is a huge amount of calories to take before you sleep. As you will be immobile for up to 8 hours you will be more prone to gaining body fat more rapidly. |

Question | Don t know if this is a stupid question, can you still burn fat when taking weight gain as in doing plenty of cardio in the morning on an empty stomach........ |
Answer | Unlikely Danny. Mass gain / weight loss is a matter of calories in vs calories out. You'd have to be very new to the stimulus of lifting weights to lose fat and build muscle simultaneously. |

Question | Hi ive just started using critical mass again for my bulking phase but still have a 5kg tub of nutrisport energy boost 4:1 left over from my cutting phase which i used pre and post workout as a recovery drink, i was just wondering would it be best to now put the energy boost 4:1 to 1 side and use critical mass post workout Or would the energy boost 4:1 provide a better recovery |
Answer | Hi Chris,
It's entirely up to you. Post or pre-workout can be a good time to use the Energy Boost still. Use the C-Mass as a meal replacement throughout the day, and you can get the most out of the Energy Boost. As long as you're getting the required calories from the C-Mass to grow, it'll be all good. |
