What car would you buy?

What car would you buy?

Right guys, after I get married in July I'm going to be look into getting me a new car (prob second hand) Nation-Smilies/=)

If you had up to 15k to spend what car would you go for and why? Only criteria it ideally has to be 4 doors and no more than 5 years old

I've obviously already got an idea of what I'm looking for but thought it would be fun to see what you guys might go for and it might though a new one into the mix for me Nation-Smilies/=)

Re: What car would you buy?

You can't go wrong with a golf steve, look good reliable, cheap sevicing, keep their value. Loads of different spec's you can get. You'd prob get a failry new one for 15k

I really like the scriocco's as well (don't think you can get a four door though)

Re: What car would you buy?

I've had a Focus for past 18 months, really nice to drive, it's a special edition with nice alloys, leather heated seats and heated windscreen so no need to de ice when frozen, which was brilliant last month! Also like the Golf / Audi A3 too.

Re: What car would you buy?

Not too keen on Golf's to be honest. I just don't think they 'look' their value, as good as they probably are / at holding value too.

Gotta be an Audi A3!

Re: What car would you buy?

Looks like so far everyone's on my wave length.

I've been looking at Golfs, A3 & A4's. Although funnily enough Alpha I drove a focus yesterday (works car) and I was really impressed, great drive and looks the biz too. A couple of my friend have them too. Its a catch 22 again the golfs & audi's hold there value well so you get less for you money (age/gadgets) compared to a focus but they hold there value better...

The thing with Golf's is Adam when you shut the door you can tell why they cost like they do - they shut with a thud Nation-Smilies/=) I think I'm holding the A3 higher in my ratings at the minute though, i'd like a quattro for those once in a blue moon snow days Nation-Smilies/=)

Re: What car would you buy?

The thing I like about the A3 is how Audi's come across as a high-spec car (at least imo). Focus's are more common, although I suppose they are great cars.

Be a drug dealer wannabe Steve and buy the Audi. You know you want to  Nation-Smilies/!nuu

Re: What car would you buy?

Steve, I've got a Golf 2L GT sport diesel at the mo, has got the full package, I paid just under 15k for it 3 years ago probably worth about 11k now. have a look on the vw site, you'll be surprised what you can pick up, I wouldn't be surprised if you could pick up scriocco well under 15k

Re: What car would you buy?

I drove the 170 when I was looking felt rapid, went for the 140 in the end which is still quick as they were getting snapped up pretty quick.

If your funds can stretch to it go for the R32 absolute beast of a car.

I had two focus's before and loved them but the golf was a step up in quality

Re: What car would you buy?

If you want power Steve I would definitely go with a Citroen Saxo 1.1. I recently caused two innocent mortals severe whiplash at the mild speed of 5 mph, such is the power of them.

I'd like the 170bhp A3 or Golf GT but we'll have to see. Really wanted an S3 but they hold there price ridiculasly! Although they are 30k brand new!?!?!?

Re: What car would you buy?

You could probably get some where near a E46 M3, if you looking for power and speed that is. I used to have an E36 M3, fully modified engine. Got 327bh on the rolling road when it had its remap done. Got caught speeding and cant insure it anymore now ! Probably a good thing though, I had trouble getting it to go over the speed bumps at work !

Re: What car would you buy?

I wanted a beamer a couple of years ago but for some reason I've gone off of them for the minute?

I'm trying to be sensible in getting a practical car but pretty powerful, although if our lass gives me the all clear nearer the time to get a 'fun car' I could be tempted into something with 2 seats... lol

Also thought about an evo as there 4 wheel drive and 4 doors but trying to find one thats not old for the money, plus I have at the back of my mind it been thrashed and a bit chavy Nation-Smilies/=)

My brother had one at 19. It did not end well, to say the least.

Awesome car though. We had it to 157mph on the motorway once.

That's like 250 km/h I suppose, limiter should kick in then.

German Autobahn really is the place for driving that fast. Was in an Audi S6 once, you can drive 250 in those and the noise is still pretty minimal.
Hadn't even noticed we were going that fast till I looked at the speedometer.
